At the June 14, 2016 IRRR Board meeting, Giants Ridge was granted approval to proceed with purchasing two new chair lifts:
1. One new high speed chair lift, which will replace the current Sarajevo Lift
2. One new chair lift, which will replace the current Helsinki Lift

This $5.7 million dollar investment is critical infrastructure that will allow Giants Ridge to remain current and competitive in the snow sports industry, providing our guests greater uphill capacity and speed. In addition, the chair lift will be used year round (spring, summer, fall) for mountain biking and hiking.

Giants Ridge is thrilled about the potential of these two new chair lifts, and the excitement they bring. This continues on the momentum of the new chalet and other new amenities such as the playground, climbing wall and purpose-built mountain bike trails.

"Giants Ridge is a crucial part of the Iron Range economy and key element to building and sustaining vibrant communities. The facility’s direct economic impacts on the local economy are estimated to be approximately $43 million today and $98 million by 2035. It is the host site to Minnesota State High School League alpine and Nordic championships, along with numerous other alpine and nordic school events, serving approximately 4,000 participants from up to 75 schools across Minnesota."

Thank you to everyone who worked to attain these new lifts.
